SAFEAI Workshop at 2024 Ada-Europe Conference

Date: June 11, 2024
Location: Barcelona, Spain

SAFEXPLAIN project partners will participate in the 28th Ada-Europe International Conference on Reliable Software Technologies. This conference represents a leading international forum for providers, practitioners, and researchers in reliable software technologies. Presentations will be given on the current work in the theory and practice of the design, development, and maintenance of long-lived, high-quality software systems for a challenging variety of application domains. Participants include practitioners and researchers from industry, academia, and government organizations active in the promotion and development of reliable software technologies.

The project will be presented throughout the conference: 1) Through the Wednesday 12 June keynote on “Strategies to build safety relevant high-performance HW/SW platforms for critical embedded systems”, 2) the Thursday 13 June panel on “AI for Safety-Critical Systems: How “I” Should the AI be”, and 3) the Friday 14 June workshop on SAFEAI.

Keynote Talk

Partners from SAFEXPLAIN coordinator, Barcelona Supercomputing Center, will present on “Strategies to build safety relevant high-performance HW/SW platforms for critical embedded systems”. The talk will delve into two sets of technologies to mitigate the risks associated to the increasing complexity of the platforms needed for future Critical Embedded Systems, software-only solutiosn and hardware modules.

Panel “AI for Safety-Critical Systems: How ‘I’ Should the AI be?’

Irune Yarza from Ikerlan will be featured in this all-women panel on 13 June 2024. She will bring her expertise in functional safety and AI and discuss work ongoing in SAFEXPLAIN.

SAFEAI Workshop

The BSC will host the workshop “SAFEAI”, which is co-located within the Ad-Europe conference. This workshop will take place on 14 June and will focus on “Enabling the use of AI in Safety-Critical Systems”.

The workshop counts with the participation of several SAFEXPLAIN project partners, including Gabriele Giordanna (AIKO) Irune Yarza (Ikerlan) and Axel Brando (BSC).

The workshop will present a number o fchallenges in the form of industrial use cases building on AI, as well as the latest advances in terms of safety-relevant system development, AI solutions amenable for safety-critical systems, and system software and middleware support to contain and model platform complexity.
