The 2023 TÜV Rheinland International Symposium was held in Boston, USA from 16-17 October. This two day event brought together those involved in Functional Safety and Cybersecurity in different industrial application areas.

Jon Perez-Cerrolaza from SAFEXPLAIN partner, IKERLAN, presented on the first day of the conference with a talk on “Artificial Intellegence (AI) for Safety-Critical Systems”. A key aspect of the presentation covered the results of a AI and Safety survey prepared by the consortium.

This survey, “Artifical Intelligence for Safety-Critical Systems in Industrial and Transportation Domains: A Survey” was recently published as part of the ACM Computing Surveys and is available open access here.

The presentation covers topics related to AI usage and compliance with safety standards, AI-based Safety-cricial system as a product, the AI safety engineering process and what this means for trustworthiness. Interested in learning more? Access the presentation here.
