Showing SAFEXPLAIN Results in Action at ASPIN 2025

Date: June 05, 2025

The 23° Workshop on Automotive Software & Systems, hosted by Automotive SPIN Italia on 29 May 2025 proved to be a very successful forum for sharing SAFEXPLAIN results. Carlo Donzella from exida development and Enrico Mezzetti from the Barcelona Supercomputing Center presented the project to 100 in-person attendees in as part of the session on “Functional Safety” and shared more details about the project at the SAFEXPLAIN booth.

Presentation

“SAFEXPLAIN Results in Action: the Integrated SW Platform” was presented during the session on on Functional Safety.

Carlo Donzella opened the presentation with a look at the context in which the project is being carried out, especially with regard to the automotive domain and its history and need for technological innovation. He suggested that SAFEXPLAIN could offer a new compromise to ongoing debates in the automotive sector regarding the future of fully autonomous vehicles.

Enrico Mezetti continued the presentation with a look at the SAFEXPLAIN landscape, including its holistic approach for safe and explainable AI (process and procedures, design, analysis and runtime) and how its different components integrate into the overarching software platform.

He then described the SAFEXPLAIN integrated platform and provided an overview of the core demo features that would be presented in the live demo following the presentation.

Live Core Demo Presentation

The SAFEXPLAIN project provided a central point from which to share more information about the project with interested audiences. Two live presentations of the core demo were given by Enrico Mezzetti, with substantial interest from workshop participants.

Another live presentation of the core demo will be given during the June 18th webinar “Making certifiable AI a reality for critical systems: CORE DEMO”.
